The biological meaning of adult refers to an animal capable of reproducing. Within the human realm, adults refer to legal and social concepts. In contrast to a non-adult or "minor", a legal adult has reached the age of majority, and therefore is considered autonomous, self-sufficient and accountable. In early adulthood the physical capabilities of our bodies reach their highest levels. They include strength of muscles and reaction time.
